MWLJ (#3) The race begins

IT'S TIME TO START THE RACE!

My journey really began February 26, 2023 when I went to visit my son, Brett and daughter-in-law, Carrie. I made the decision before I went to address my #1 issue, my addiction to sugar. Normally, when I went to visit the, I would hide candy in my suitcase and eat it at night when I went to bed. Brett and Carrie are pretty healthy eaters, so I was hiding my addiction. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there? So this time, no candy in my suitcase.

Carrie actually did get me approved to get the Mourjara in California, but as I had said in my first blog. I wasn't eligible because of Medicare.

TEXAS, HERE I COME. . . I ate very healthy while I was in Texas. The only snacks I had were some pistachios and cuties. I did have a Bloody Mary and a Margarita with a couple meals, but otherwise drank water the whole trip. One night we went out for Italian Ice’s or ice cream. I, of course, chose ice cream, but only had one scoop. At the airport terminal, I avoided the pizza and hamburgers (and Cinnabon which was right across from my gate). I instead chose to eat Chicken Salad on Croissant, but only ate the bottom of the Croissant.

MY TRIP WAS SUCCESSFUL . . . I lost 4 lbs. and the craving for sugar. Now to continue the progress at home. I arrived home on March 7 and went to my favorite restaurant, Dona Louisa’s. I had 2 mini grilled chicken street tacos and a few chips with unsweetened iced tea. I almost couldn’t eat it all.

I have seen a lot of benefits from going off sugar already. I have more energy, food tastes better, have reduced joint pain and better mental alertness.
